As of 2026, Shopify offers four main plans for businesses of different scales: Basic, Grow, Advanced and Plus. Each plan’s monthly/annual subscription fee, credit‑card transaction rate and third‑party payment fees are distinct. In this guide we summarize all plan details and the total cost calculation clearly.

1. How to Calculate Total Cost on Shopify?

The total amount you will pay on Shopify is not a single figure; three different items must be considered together.

  • Monthly or annual subscription fee: Varies depending on the plan you choose.

  • Credit‑card transaction rate: Only this rate applies if you use Shopify Payments.

  • Third‑party transaction fee: If you choose a payment provider other than Shopify Payments, an additional transaction fee is charged.

Important: Shopify subscription fees are basically non‑refundable. Paying annually saves 25 % compared to monthly payment.

3. Shopify Plus 2026 Pricing

Shopify Plus is a plan designed for enterprise and high‑volume businesses. Prices vary depending on the contract term and currency:

  • USD: $2,500/mo (1‑year) – $2,300/mo (3‑year)

  • EUR: €2,250/mo (1‑year) – €2,100/mo (3‑year)

  • GBP: £1,950/mo (1‑year) – £1,800/mo (3‑year)

  • JPY: ¥398,000/mo (1‑year) – ¥350,000/mo (3‑year)

  • AUD: $4,000/mo (1‑year) – $3,700/mo (3‑year)

  • INR: ₹190,000/mo (1‑year) – ₹175,000/mo (3‑year)

Note: Some Shopify Plus businesses with high sales volumes may also be subject to a variable platform fee based on revenue. For exact figures, it is recommended to obtain a quote from the Shopify Plus team.

4. Shopify Payments or a Third‑Party Payment Provider?

The choice of Shopify’s payment infrastructure directly affects your total cost. It is important to clearly understand the difference between the two options:

If You Use Shopify Payments

  • Shopify’s transaction fee does not apply.

  • You only pay the credit‑card rate. This rate can be viewed in your own store within Shopify Admin.

If You Use a Third‑Party Provider

  • Shopify’s transaction fee applies (Basic: 2 %, Grow: 1 %, Advanced: 0.6 %).

  • In addition, your payment provider’s own card/transaction fees also apply.

Important: Shopify Payments is not yet supported for sellers in Türkiye. Therefore, using a third‑party provider (e.g. iyzicoPayTR) is mandatory, and transaction fees are an important cost factor when choosing a plan. To calculate which plan will be more economical for you, you can consult Byte.

Note: For Shopify Plus users, integrating a custom payment gateway allows for setting up more flexible, local, and controllable systems that go beyond classic solutions.

5. Alternative Plans: Starter and Retail

Shopify offers two additional options for small‑scale or bricks‑and‑mortar‑focused businesses:

  • Starter ($5/mo): For those who want to sell via social media or messaging apps. Suitable for simple use cases that do not require a full‑fledged online store.

  • Retail ($89/mo): Designed for businesses focused on physical store management. Includes advanced POS features for staff, inventory and customer loyalty.

6. Which Shopify Plan Should You Choose?

Answering two questions is enough to determine the right Shopify plan:

  1. What is your monthly sales volume? Transaction fees make a difference at high turnover; the Shopify Advanced plan stands out with a 0.6 % rate.

  2. How many staff accounts do you need? Grow offers 5, Advanced 15 and Plus unlimited staff accounts. No extra staff accounts are defined for Basic.

Basic: Ideal for beginners and solo entrepreneurs.

Grow: For growing, small teams. An affordable step up with a lower transaction fee.

Advanced: For brands turning towards high turnover and international sales.

Plus: For corporate businesses requiring B2B, multilingual/multi‑region structure and a customized checkout flow.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I try Shopify for free?

Yes. Shopify offers a 3‑day free trial without requiring a credit card. After the trial period, you can use the monthly plans for $1 for 3 months. During this time you can test all the core features.

Can I change my Shopify plan later?

Yes, you can upgrade or downgrade between the Basic, Grow and Advanced plans at any time. In Shopify Plus, plan change is possible once the contract term (1 or 3 years) has expired.

How much does annual payment save?

Discounts are applied when annual payment is selected for the Basic and Grow plans. For example, the Basic plan is $27 with monthly payment but drops to $19 per month with annual payment; the Grow plan drops from $72 to $54 per month. For the Advanced plan there is no significant difference between monthly and annual payments.

Is Shopify Payments available in Türkiye?

No, Shopify Payments is currently not active in Türkiye. Sellers in Türkiye must use third‑party payment providers such as iyzico or PayTR. In this case, Shopify’s transaction fee (2 %, 1 % or 0.6 % depending on the plan) also applies.

When should I switch to Shopify Plus?

In general, brands that have revenue levels that offset the $1,500–$2,000 monthly subscription cost, want to open a B2B sales channel, set up a multilingual or multi‑region structure, or want to fully customise the checkout page are ready to switch to Plus. The Byte team will be happy to help you make this decision.
